It's been about a year since my last journal entry and my last submission to dA.
Due to what seems rampant and endless art theft, tracers, and websites profiting from "art they found online", I've decided to remove the majority of my work from dA.

I haven't been using this site much anyway and I haven't had a lot of time for pinups.

Here are some tips for folks who actually want to do the right thing. Consider this my last update:
- is the creator's name on the piece you've found? Is it legit theirs? Do a Google image search.
- did you find a website that sells items without anyone's name and the website blatantly refuses to list their creators? Do not buy from them.
- want to buy something but you have done a Google image search and dug for hours trying to find the original creator and found nothing? I'm afraid that is how things go sometimes. You now have to decide if handing a thief your money for a material item is worth denying it to the obscure artist.
- do you know the contact information/social media of the creator whose work you've found on a site making money from it? Message them and ask for affiliation and send a link. Yes, it causes a lot of anger and frustration but it's better to know if your work is making a profit for someone else than let it keep happening.
- TL;DR - tell people when their work is being stolen and don't buy stolen goods. Take the ten minutes or so to find a name on the merchandise and, if you can't find it, do not support that store.

With so much ease of access and printers really not giving a shit, it's too easy for these assholes to turn a profit on the hard work of others.
And if you're sitting there smirking and going "well if it's online then it's free", fuck you. Like just...eat my entire asshole.

If you're looking for art gifts/trades/fan art I've done, it's probably still on my computer and I can send it to you.

Thank you for all of your support.
Hey all!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi, I'm not dead, I'm still updating my new webcomic "I Like You" which, btw, turns 1 Year Old on the 16th! :V

Wowie!

Sorry if I'm kinda dead here - but you can find me at the link posted above.

ALSO!

I was going through my old stuff here and I found a lot of content I'm not pleased with anymore. Not because of how old it is but the context. Also I made a lot of shitty comments/replies on them. I'm sorry. I'm trying to be a better person but it sort of dredges up a lot of embarrassment. Sorry for saying shitty things to you nice people. You don't deserve it. You are great! I appreciate all your support. :B

Hey everyone!

Do you like my characters? Do you like dudes kissing? Do you like dudes kissing with flower crowns? Do you like free stickers? Do you like getting little things in the mail and adhering them to your property? Do you look forward to trying to explain your sticker choices to your friends?

Look no further! (<- Click here for a preview of the sticker)

To celebrate ‘I Like You’ reaching 100 readers (give or take a few bots) I am going to print some fancy little round stickers and send them to you FOR FREE! Email me at james2battleATgmailDOTcom with your address and I will mail these little goobers to your face!

Worth noting: I have not printed these yet and want to have some for the Vermont Comic Con so your email will help me collect the numbers needed to print the right amount. It will be a little while before they go out and I will post here when I mail them out. If you do not want to give me your address I will have some, as mentioned, at my table at the VTCC!

Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU so much for your support! Thank you for reading and sharing my comic! I look forward to showing you more of this story!
Hey everyone!

You may have noticed a slump in my activity here and that is because I am eyeball-deep in comic work and posting it over on my Tumblr blog. The comic is coming along very well! At least I feel that it is because I'm still very passionate about it.

I will be celebrating 100 readers sooner than I thought (granted some of those followers have nothing posted so they are probably bots...?) but a huge wave of followers came from the LGBTWebcomics blog! Please go check out their selection of comics OR if you have your own queer/trans comic and want to get the word out shoot them a message.

I will be attending the Vermont Comic Convention this year as an artist rather than a guest so if you are around please come by my table and make sure I haven't succumb to anxiety and passed out under my table. I will have copies of 'I Like You', issues 1 and 2; some prints, Asexual stickers, and maybe some other stuff. It's my first convention ever so I'm not sure what to sell or say - sorry if I'm awkward and unprepared.

Thank you for sticking with me, I hope you have a good year, take of yourself and others.

Hey all!

My new comic, 'I Like You', has been going very well. People seem to like it and it's breathed some fresh creative drive into my stagnant life (despite it being a spin-off and extremely trite).

I am not as active here as I have been over on Tumblr or Twitter, so I suggest you follow me there if you want to see more work or get insights for what's going on.

I hope you're all well!
Eyy

First of all THANK YOU to anyone who has spent any time on/with me or my work, even for a moment - it means so much to me that people think I'm worth being around and that the things I do are things that are worth seeing.

Secondly, I've been updating every weekend for the past few weeks and currently have a small collection of pages available for reading/viewing. It's a slow start, now that I'm looking at it, but webcomics are a slow medium, especially when I can only afford one page per week. I'd like my story to be viewed as a whole at some point, but for now it's slow-going. Thank you for being patient and understanding the webcomic medium.

The story is completely scripted and written (minus some minor changes in panels and dialog) and everything is storyboarded. I am not looking for feedback, but feel free to critique your little hearts out, knowing that it's not going to change anything.

I'm not really sure if I want to post any pages here on dA so I highly recommend you go to the site to read it if you're interested.

Finally, if anyone does any fan work and wants me to see it and share it, you have to tell me. Other than the occasional search for Tlaloc I do on dA (mostly to see other variants of the deity) I don't look for fanart on purpose. I'm not up on my horse expecting waves of fan work to pour in at my feet, but I know what a fucking sad feeling it is to work on something for someone else and not have them recognize it. Seriously, fan work makes me want to Ghibli cry with joy so I don't want you to feel like I'm ignoring you when we could both be feeling pretty awesome. You can use this site, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, where ever - I'm everywhere.

Thank you, again. I really want this to be a fabulous project and something I feel worth completing and so far the support has been valuable.

EDIT:
Worth mentioning I suppose - While the above links are for the COMIC, I'm posting teasers, pin ups, and other stupid things comic-related on my personal blog, so feel free to follow that as well.

Eyy...

So I’m gonna bust out page 4 tonight because I got nothing better to do. But I decided that the comic will go LIVE this weekend. I’ll probably keep it a once-a-week update schedule unless I think I can handle more.

I’m really excited and honestly I’d love to just dump the pages I’ve got done on you just because. But I need to maintain control over this since I’ve worked so stinkin hard on it.

Be sure to tell anyone if they might be interested in this story.

Page 1 will be posted Saturday evening over on the comic’s site.

Thank you, everyone, for everything!

My new comic "I LIKE YOU" is launching soon! I'm going to host it on Tumblr since they have a decent comic theme (for now). There are no pages yet, but I'm ready to dig in and get to work. The cover of book one is posted and I'm really proud of it.
If you are interested in my new comic, please go give that page a follow so you don't miss out!

I think you should probably read this.
Do you like free art?!

Read this Tumblr post I just made to get some! :B
There is only the epilogue page left in this issue and Issue 15 is still in sketch form and incomplete despite my best efforts. If you'd like to contribute some fan art as filler I wouldn't be against that. You will of course be linked if you have a website. There is no obligation, but I thought I'd ask.  THENKS.
...everyone needs it, for many reasons.  Some are very good reasons: a home, a family, a business, to heal someone.

My reason is attempting to get out of a bit of debt and maybe go to MineCon this year.  Those aren't the most noble of reasons in the world but you know, they are mine, and I'd like to give you something in return.

I've opened an etsy shop for art prints.  I have a few items there and I will be adding more bit by bit.

I'd be very grateful for any purchase but really I'd like you to decorate your walls with some of my art.

Thank you!
Yo

Couple things.

1) Finally got my new computer and it is completely set up for gaming and live streaming and I'd love for you to join me.
2) Uploaded all of my Tumblr Yogscast fan art.  I'd never drawn fan art like that before but it just poured out of me and it was good practice with making different kind of faces and expressions and it was a lot of fun.  Sips even took a few minutes of his day to notice a couple of them! :D

Sorry for the comic slack - the art programs aren't installed on the new computer and this past week has been crazy.  Should be settling down a bit after this weekend.

Much love and I hope to see you on the livestream!

Hey guys.
Been a lot of pages cranking out, eh?
Yeah.

That's been nice.
I'm on Twitter now...

(Twitter will be taking place of commenting/answering/asking questions about the comic while in-progress because UStream is too big of a program to run smoothly on my computer. :C)
Hey all.  You may or may not have noticed but I took dA up on their two years for the price of one premium membership offer.  With me being out of school and in need of some second income I thought I'd try to plug some art pieces through their system.  We'll see.

5) Signed or Unsigned

This batch will expire by December 1st.

Oh and I'd like people to comment if they'd like me to promote their work on my journal.  I will gladly help you out.
All right, so...uhm.

I have withdrawn from the Drexel MLIS program.  Please get your eye-rolling and groaning out of the way before we continue.

Done?

Great.

The program was not for me.  I was isolated, overwhelmed, and when reaching out for help I was told "look at the syllabus" and treated very poorly.  My advisor sent me a message saying "You are failing your classes, consider withdrawing from them".  I said "I'll do one better and withdraw from the whole mess."  I put it more professionally than that.

Does this mean I'm giving up as a librarian?  Absolutely not.  I would make a kick-ass librarian or bookstore owner/employee.  I need to be around books.  But this program was not for me.  I'm sure it works for a lot of people who are smarter than me but on my own and without the help I needed I only saw failure, crushing debt, anxiety, and instead of an education - a gauntlet.

That being said I am still employed as a barista, part-time, and with my withdrawal comes the return of my college debt (plus some).  I like my job and the people I work with, even if the customers a) are pains in my ass or b) really attractive guys who want nothing to do with me.  So I will stay there as long as I can or can stand.

With my re-instated freedom comes the time to work on art and comics and I am actually thinking about really dedicating some time to this shit.  I've tossed around the idea of publishing a book or two of mine (there is a book called "50 Sad Chairs - I'm sure I'll be able to print something) or selling some original art.  Maybe offering more prints.  The comic will definitely return, that's the good news.

I would still hugely appreciate anyone willing to purchase a print or two.  If you can spread the word or reblog me on Tumblr...y'know, whatever...I'd like to make some extra money but I want to make it worth your hard-earned cash.  Ideas are welcome.  Maybe you'd like someone to design some gaming pages for you, or a wedding invitation...I'm kind of shit with portraits but I do pretty good landscapes.

If you're still interested in buying November's print (I plan on having a special short-run print every month as long as I can keep it up and have something new) feel free to note me or send me an email.

Batch two image is....

1) Your name
2) Where you are from (international orders may take a little longer)
3) Your address

6) Favorite soda brand (please don't be a hipster about this, Coke is fine and delicious) - this is important as I will not respond to your email unless you tell me.

Orders hopefully won't take too long to send out.  Remember - All profits go into my pockets to help me eat and pay my bills while I'm in school.  I will accept only PayPal at this time.

UPDATED NOTICE: Because of my work hours and school it's sometimes difficult for me to get to the post office.  I will keep in contact with you about the approximate shipping date if you'd like me to.  Otherwise it will kind of be a surprise - although estimate about two weeks...?Ish?

This batch will expire by December 1st.
